Because no moment resembles any of its predecessors, and because everything is the result of circumstantiality, future circumstance can only be assumed.
The ancient Chinese concept of Taoism, which emphasizes the way, is likely the most accurate perspective for us as human beings. Seeing the path as a riddle that might, at any moment, reveal itself, can both silence and calm the walk along the way. Opening our eyes every morning like a child discovering reality may position us to deal with events that happen on our own way, and strengthen us to face the next challenge.
In “everything flows,” there is great comfort – our next steps may bring hope, and if not? One must continue with the flow, if only to discover the next moment; other than flow, there is nothing.
